Since I was a kid, working on cattle ranches all around the country, I have had the need for really good leather care products to take care of my gear that was subject to hard use under harsh conditions on a daily basis – whether it be dry and hot like in the San Joaquin Valley, or, wet, and foggy along the California coast, or, bone chilling cold in Nevada.
These experiences convinced me that there was a more suitable set of leather care products for these conditions than what was generally available, and, there were more people than just me who needed quality leather care products to condition, waterproof and preserve hard used cowboy gear as evidenced by all my customers’ requests for the leather care products I used on my personal gear.
In my effort to make the best possible creams, waxes, oils and leather stuffings, for my own use as well as that of my customers, I searched out and sought the experienced opinions and advice of several veteran leather chemists and tanners about the raw materials and historic formulas used in the tanning process of vegetable and chrome tanned leathers.
This effort has produced several unique special purpose formulas used to condition, waterproof and preserve specific types of cowboy gear and the type of leather from which each piece of gear is made - Including saddles, tack, boots, holsters, belts, saddle bags, shell bags, gun scabbards, knife sheaths, binocular cases, spotting scope cases.
In response to this demand, I’ve started to commercially manufacture, under the Granite Station Saddlery & Feed name, the specially formulated leather care products I’ve formulated and brewed for my own use over the last several years.
